A natural glow is something I seek all year round. In fact, it’s my preferred look but with the dark and dreary cold winter nights starting to kick in, I definitely need a helping hand in that department so I thought I’d do a round-up of all the items that help me get my glow on come rain or shine.
Firstly, lets talk about the base. Nothing does it better than cult favourites Nars Sheer Glow Foundation and the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. I have used both for years and with the colour match, the lasting power and the glow from within finish, nothing else even comes close to replacing these two.
I also find using a light reflecting finishing powder really handy as not only does it help set your makeup, but it brightens up the skin and adds a bit more dimension to your complexion. The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders are perfect and the one I have below is Diffused Light which is yellow toned and perfect for my skin tone.
A blusher with a subtle shimmer always works wonders and my two favourites are the Laura Mercia Second Skin Cheek Colour in Lush Nectarine which is a gorgeous peachy orange and Nars Deep Throat, a peachy pink. Both have a golden shimmer running through it and add a healthy flush to the cheeks.
Now when I really want to get my glow on then a highlighter is always top of the list. I have many that I love but for a powder option and a full on glow theBalm’s Mary Lou Manizer is lovely golden shimmer perfect for the party season whereas Nars The Multiple in Copacabanna is a cream highlighter that is more of a silver frost and if applied lightly is a great day option.
Even the eyes and lips need that glow too you know and Bobbi Brown’s Metallic Eye Shadow in Champagne Quartz is an oldie but a goodie. I often just wear this on its own and it is great for brightening up tired eyes. When it comes to the lips, a subtle shine adds that extra bit of oomph and stops your lipstick looking flat and the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain Lip in Corail Aquatique, a peachy coral and the Chantecaille Brilliant Gloss in Classic, a pinky nude are great at just that.
To buff away dry skin cells and reveal healthy glowing skin, I highly recommend a body scrub. The one I have below is the Kedeem Salt Scrub but there are also great drugstore options too such as the Soap & Glory Smoothie Star breakfast Scrub.
The Beauty Elixir by Caudalie is a great facial toner in spray form adding that instant boost of radiance to the skin, ideal for refreshing your face at any time of the day and can be used on top of your makeup. Lastly, I can’t forget the hair. Nothing speaks more glow than when your hair is shining and my favourite failsafe option for glowing frizz free locks post hair styling is L’Oreal’s Mythic Oil.
So have you tried any of these before and what do you love to use to get your glow on? x
