• A Boots Haul

Back in the day Boots was the store where I got my photos developed…gosh I’m showing my age, but now I can’t come out of the store without a bag full of stuff I’ve been itching to try what with all the premium brands they stock – Essie nail varnishes and perfume seem to be my particular weakness.  A Boots haul is something I could share with you quite regularly and I’m not sure why I haven’t done so.  No time like the present I guess, especially since I’ve made some…yes you guessed it “recent purchases”.

I’ll start with my favourite, the Essie Gel Couture Nail Polishes which mimic a gel-like manicure without the need for any base coat, UV or LED lamp.  As someone who is indifferent to gel manicures I was just curious really and this 2-step process involves your chosen colour and the top coat pictured in the middle below.  With 25 colours in the range, a swanky bottle design and lasting power of up to 12 days all at just £9.99 each, what’s not to like?  The colours I have are Rock the Runway a vibrant coral-red and Drop the Gown which is a ruby-red with purple undertones.  Both are fantastic and I’ve already marked some more colours I want to try from the range.

Next up is a repurchase of Benefit’s Rockateur which is the perfect rose gold blush.  It has just the right amount of shimmer and warmth to add a healthy flush to the cheeks.  I always offer this advice every time, less is definitely more when it comes to blusher and no matter how much it may seem like your makeup brush hasn’t picked up enough product, trust me it has.  If applied properly, this works well as a contour too.

Another purchase from Benefit is the High Brow Glow Pencil Highlighter.  I love the concept of brow highlighters but a separate product for it probably isn’t necessary when you can just use eyeshadow.  I also find this a bit chalky so this one is a miss for me I’m afraid.

The Clinique Superdefence SPF 20 Age Defence is my go to eye cream for day time.  It has a slight pigment and subtle shimmer to it which instantly brightens the under eye area and is a great prep for use underneath my concealer.  It’s not always you get an eye cream that has SPF and luckily this leaves no white cast.

Lastly is the Eau De Toilette version of Lancome’s La Vie Est Belle.  This is a toned down, fresher and easier to wear version than the Eau de Parfum edition but still carries that signature sweet, toffee like smell.  Although marketed for spring, I can see myself wearing this all year round.

With more stuff always being released another trip to my favourite drugstore is in order but in the meantime what purchases have you made from Boots recently?  I’d love to know.  x
