• Another Highlighter to Add to the Stash

Laura Mercier Face Illuminator profile 2011

Ever since I discovered highlighters I don’t think I’ve ever looked back.  I just can’t go without a quick sweep across the cheekbones, it does wonders and transforms you from dull to glowing in an instant.  Powder highlighters are by far my favourite as I find them easier to work with and they last for absolutely ages so you definitely get your monies worth.

I’ve spoken before of my favourite highlighters being TheBalm’s Mary-Lou Manizer, the Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Powder in Candlelight (see my post here) and the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecter in Opal (see my post on this here), which I still love and use but the Mary-Lou Manizer is very much a gold highlighter, Candlelight is on the pale, frosty side and the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecter has a peach undertone.  That’s not to say that these don’t look natural but with certain makeup or clothes I have to choose one over the other.  Luckily for me I’ve found the perfect neutral highlighter that goes with anything….and you’ve got to have that right?  I’m talking about the Laura Mercier Face Illuminator Powder in Indiscretion which is a classic medium champagne colour.

Cased in a large squared mirrored compact, this highlighter has a non-dusting texture so although it is in a powder formula it looks and feels more like a cream making it incredibly soft to touch and easy to blend.  I don’t find it overly shimmery and sparkly and it sinks into the skin beautifully giving that much-loved lit from within glow.  You can build up the intensity if you want so if you are looking for a versatile highlighter for day and night then this is ideal.  I apply this with my Charlotte Tilbury Powder and Sculpt Brush (see my post on this here), which picks up just the right amount of product and other than the cheekbones you can also use this highlighter on the eyes and décolletage.

There are 3 other colours in the range including Devotion, a shimmering pale pink, Addiction which is a shimmering yellow gold and Seduction which is a medium bronze shimmer.  Addiction and Seduction are warmer and offer more colour if that is what you are after but I have to say I think Indiscretion is the best one in the range as it suits all skin-tones.

So if you are on the look out for a highlighter then this is a great all-rounded option – natural, radiant and buildable, what more could you want? x
