• Some Long Awaited Purchases

    Long awaited purchases profile 1207

As much as I love hoarding makeup, when it comes to the luxury brands it’s always quality over quantity that takes precedent, that and of course the price tag makes you think twice before splurging.  I also find I become really selective, wanting to make sure I make the right choice – nothing wrong with being sensible eh? Luckily these long-awaited purchases are worth the money in my opinion.

Firstly is Charlotte Tilbury’s Cheek to Chic Blusher in First Love.  After a bit of trial and error in store, I finally decided on this option as it’s a lovely neutral colour that adds a subtle natural flush to the cheeks.  The concept is pretty clever too as it works as a contour and blusher in one where you use the outer layer along your cheekbones and the middle section to add a pop of colour to the apple of your cheeks.  You can also just swirl the two together and apply as you would your normal blusher, either way you get a gorgeous matte finish.  This is also the perfect colour to wear with a bold lip but beware, whilst it looks quite pale in the pan, this is quite pigmented so a little goes a long way.

Next up is another Charlotte Tilbury product which is the Eyes to Mesmerise Cream Eyeshadow in Jean.  As someone who normally stays away from cream eyeshadows, this little wonder makes me want to invest in some of the other colours in the range too.

Jean is a light golden beige shimmer and I love just wearing this on its own.  Whilst best to apply cream eyeshadows with your fingers, I prefer to use my MAC 217 brush as it gives me more control and at least that way I don’t get the stuff stuck in my nails! Luckily there is time to blend this before it dries and once dried, this eyeshadow really does stay put.

The last item is definitely something I have been itching to buy for ages and that’s the Tom Ford Lip Colour in Something Wild.  It took quite a few swatches on the hand before I settled for this pinkish coral.  Although it has a shimmer, the warm undertones make this a very wearable colour which goes with just about anything. Of course you have to take a minute to appreciate the packaging and the “TF” embossed on the lipstick……so elegant.  Ok I know it’s not the be all and end all, but beautiful nonetheless and a definite treat.

So there you go.  I think sometimes it’s good to wait before going all out and in this case I’m glad I held a bit of restraint…..well just for a while.  What about you?  Do you have any long-awaited makeup purchases to share? x
