August has been a strange month – a mix of tying up some loose ends and getting into a new routine, which involves focusing on the blog a lot more….in fact a whole lot more. My “to-do” list is getting longer and longer but I’m ensuring I stick to my top three priorities first as it helps to focus the mind.
However, here in the UK, after yearning for some hot weather we finally had a pretty fabulous bank holiday weekend and whilst it was great to enjoy breakfast through to dinner in the garden, it meant I postponed blog writing last weekend. So yet again that blog schedule I keep meaning to get ahead with got blown out the window.
That said, I still made it in time to get my second “Currently Loving” post complete. I’ve been looking forward to this one as I’m sharing some of my favourite Instagram accounts. But first on the beauty front this Percy & Reed Eau My Goodness Shine & Fragrance Spray is a great pick-me-up for the hair. With a fresh, floral scent it imparts a subtle fragrance and shine without weighing it down and I’ve been using this pretty much throughout the month. Even though it’s not a dry shampoo, it gives my hair that fresh feeling without feeling scrunchy.
On my eyes the Le Métier De Beauté True Colour Eyeshadow in Peachy Keen is a gorgeous coppery peach and so very pigmented. Bright and warm-toned, this suits a tan perfectly and it’s so smooth in texture that I’ve been turning to this more than the normal champagne and beige type of colours I tend to go for.
Another and least expected favourite is the YSL Couture Brow Marker * in Dark Brown. I say least expected because at first glance I thought this was über scary and not for me, but boy was I wrong. In fact it’s pretty much all I’ve been using on the brows. Although effectively a felt tip pen for the brows, this is very subtle. The angular tip means you can fill in gaps very easily and it’s great for perfecting your arch too. As someone who doesn’t go for a precise, drawn-in look, this is ideal.
Summer is the time my fragrance changes with sweet, fresh and floral scents being my preference. My number one top pick this month has to be YSL Mon Paris EDP. This is a feminine floral with notes of pear, patchouli and white musk and always draws me compliments.
Things have been a bit quiet on the TV front. Most of the series I love start again in October, but I still have Made In Chelsea Ibiza to keep me entertained – definitely a guilty pleasure!! Less TV, however, gives me time to focus on my Instagram account and although it can be frustrating what with the crazy algorithm going on, discovering new accounts has become a bit of a pass-time for me and this month has definitely been about that.
Below are some of my favourite instagrammers with a snapshot from their feed. They are by no means the only accounts I follow and love and I’ll definitely be sharing more of my favourites in posts to come:
Everything on this accounts looks so very girly and pink it’s hard not to love Catherine’s account.
Whenever I go onto Lexie’s account I feel like I’m in a fairytale. Whimsical and magical, this account has me browsing for ages.
3. @lovegiveink
As a stationery lover I’m in awe of Martha’s account. She has her own stationery business over at lovegiveink.com and her Instagram account makes me feel like I’m following her on her journey and of course I keep book-marking everything that I want!
Anne’s account gives me some real inspiration to up my flatlays, this girl has got it mastered.
I love Samantha’s beauty and lifestyle posts with sharp images against soft and airy backgrounds.
6. @fridayfaye
Faye has some of the dreamiest products you could imagine. This is my one-stop shop for the most beautiful beauty products.
So that’s it for this month. Sharing a bit of the love feels so good I must say and I can’t wait to do this more often. What about all of you? What have you been loving in August and do you follow any of these accounts? I’d love to hear your thoughts so drop me a note in the comments below. x
