• Glo & Ray Cosmetics: A New Discovery

    gloo & ray 2 2208

I think it’s always great when you make an unexpected discovery and when I was kindly asked if there was anything I would be interested in reviewing from a British cosmetics company by the name of Glo & Ray, I was pleasantly surprised at their impressive range of affordable products.  Glo & Ray is a relatively young brand which made its debut in 2012 and is only available online, check out their website here.

The products I have tried are the La Amo Creamy Matte Lipsticks* and the Mariposa Quartet Eye Shadow in Golden Dunes*.

The La Amo Creamy Matte Lipsticks at £12 each are more creamy in finish than they are matte but the colour pay off is good and the lasting power is decent given that they are very moisturising on the lips.  Freeze, swatched on the right below is probably a bit too nude for my liking and on my lips translates into a blue-toned mauve.  The colour Fallin, however, is more up my street and is a lovely coral pink which is a great pop of colour that brightens up my complexion.  Although it is very hard to choose a lip colour online, all the colours, particularly the bolder ones, do look tempting.

My favourite though is the Mariposa Quartet Eye Shadow in Golden Dunes at £12.50.  All 6 palettes in this range look gorgeous, but I feel like I can get a lot of use out of this one and at the same time it is different from the other nude palettes I own.  The finish is quite unique as it’s a mix between a shimmer, a frost and a sheen and although it looks like these eyeshadows are very stiff, on the eyes they translate as very soft and easy to blend.  The biggest thing for me though is that there is no fall out…..yay!

The darker shades are definitely stronger in terms of pigmentation but I love the blend of colours in this palette and even the lightest cream shade which I thought would not show up very well on me provides a nice base and inner corner highlight.  I would recommend wearing an eye primer though just to make sure you get the most wear from these eyeshadows.

The packaging is sleek and compact and this brand offers some good quality versatile products all without a high-end price tag so I think it’s definitely worth checking out their website even if it’s just something to keep in mind for next time.

So, have you ever heard of this brand before?  What do you think?
