• A Chanel Makeup Haul & First Impressions

I’ve had this post on my to-do list for ages and it was probably the one I was looking forward to the most, especially since it involves some new Chanel goodies.  Following on from my recent addiction to eyeshadow sticks (see my post on some of my favourites here), I thought I’d just have a general mooch around the Chanel counter and see what they had to offer but somehow I ended up with the complete opposite and not just one, but five items….oops!

First up is the Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner at £21 in Mat Taupe and Celadon.  As well as being waterproof, these eyeliners are smudge proof and long-lasting.  They are retractable so you don’t have the usual worry of sharpening etc but I tend to find that I always end up snapping some of the product – does anyone else do that too?

Mat Taupe is a muted milk chocolate-brown and a much softer option than something like the Mac Eyeliner in Coffee (see my post on this here).  This Chanel eyeliner has a matte finish and glides on very softly but one I would prefer for a natural look than if say I was going out.

Celadon, on the other hand, is an emerald to dark green with a shimmer running through it.  The shimmer does not really show up much on the eyes but this is a colour I have gravitated towards a lot lately and I think it provides a good alternative to the usual black or dark brown eyeliner.  The only strange thing though is that I find this tugs on the skin a bit more and I need to press hard to get the colour to transfer.  I’m guessing perhaps the shimmer makes it a bit rougher and overall I would’t say these are the best out there which is a bit disappointing given it’s Chanel.

Luckily the next three items I do really like, the first of which is the Chanel Le Rouge Crayon De Couleur Jumbo Longwear Lip Crayon, £28.  Ok so I don’t just like this, but I LOVE IT.  I bought the shade No 5 Rouge which is a classic red and a creamier version of Mac’s Rub Woo.  It applies like a dream, makes my lips look fuller and is the perfect, suits all red.  Highly recommended.

I think I’ve mentioned before that I love mixing my lip colours as well as playing around with textures and the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine, £28 in Beige Dore is great as it’s a soft gold with a shimmer running through it.  This soft and hydrating lipstick is great for adding that gloss to what would be an overly matte and/or drying formula or you can use to mute down your lipstick.  Because my lips are quite pigmented I don’t tend to wear this on its own, but layered on top of any lipstick adds a lovely shimmery gloss.

Lastly is the Chanel Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour, £20 in Beige, a classic chic colour with a peach undertone  – pure class.

So have you tried any of these before and is there anything that takes your fancy? x
