• My Favourites From The Drugstore

    drugstore favs profile

Believe it or not it’s not all high-end for me, I have a ton of favourites from the drugstore and I can rarely go into Boots without purchasing something.  Saying that I still think it’s really easy to go crazy with drugstore items because you fall under the pretence that it’s cheap and cheerful or under a special by 1 get the 2nd half price scheme, and you can end up spending a lot of money on products you will never use….we’ve all done that right?

Well, I decided to narrow down those beauty products that I love from the drugstore that are not only excellent value for money but also real gems in my opinion.

Firstly, which should come as no surprise, are Real Techniques brushes.  I think I have nearly every set possible and the ones featured below are the Buffing Brush from the Core Collection Set and the Stippling Brush.  These two in particular are absolute staples for me in terms of foundation application as they give a flawless finish and the quality is superb considering how affordable they are.

I also adore the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks.  As they are matte they are a bit drying on the lips but the colour pay off is insane, they last really well and there are a great choice of colours in this range. My favourites are Frambourjois, a gorgeous hot pink on the left above and Peach Club, a dark orange toned coral on the right.

Ever since the Co Lab Dry Shampoo range created by fellow blogger Ruth Crilly hit the market, I have literally gone through bottles of this stuff.  I love everything about this range – the smell, the texture, the volume it gives and most importantly, that it is undetectable on the hair.  At just £2.49 this stuff really works wonders and does what it says.   There are a number of scents to choose from, all named after popular cities and my favourites are London and Paris (pictured below).

Another firm favourite is the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water which is extremely effective at removing all traces of makeup.  I always use this as the first step in my cleansing routine before I go in with the more heavy-duty stuff.  That said, this is pretty effective on its own too and it comes in both a large 400ml size plus a travel friendly size as pictured above.

I’ve already mentioned my love for drugstore mascaras before (click here to see my recent post) and my current favourite is the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara which gives excellent length, volume and curl.

Another great drugstore find is the Soap & Glory Archery 2 in 1 Brow Filling Pencil & Brush which I always have on rotation.  Its fine nib allows for that extra precision plus the spooley at the end makes this a great multi-purpose product.

The Models Own 4 Way Nail Buffer is something I always have to hand and it is a regular part of my DIY manicure routine.

Lastly, and by no means least, no drugstore favourite would be complete without a mention of Essie nail polishes.  I love them, from the vast and unique colours, the different finishes and the lasting power to even the names.  The two I have pictured below are Watermelon and Topless & Barefoot.

So there you have it.  It just goes to show that it is always possible to find affordable yet still amazing products from the drugstore.  I’m sure you all have even more wonderful drugstore finds and I’d love to know what these are, so please drop me a note in the comments below. x
