Trying the old and new in beauty…
As much as I have some tried and tested products I come back to time and again, making those new discoveries is always exciting. It’s often the best way to get out of a beauty rut and I’m lucky to have had the opportunity to sample a few new products. Not only that but I also had the opportunity to revisit a forgotten old-favourite of mine. That being said, this post has been sitting in my drafts for quite some time…oops! Oh well, better late than never so without wasting any more time here are some new(ish) products I’ve been trialling lately.
Having a shampoo on rotation is always something of the norm for me but it’s been a while since I’ve ventured away from my go-to’s by Aveda and Kerastase. However, this Shea Moisture Argan Oil & Almond Milk Smooth and Tame Shampoo & Conditioner * is a decent alternative. I say decent because I’m not madly in love with it. It’s fine when my hair hasn’t amassed huge product build up but if I’ve overdone it with the styling products or just left it too long to wash my hair, then this doesn’t really get at the scalp to give that clean feel. I turn to something a bit more heavy duty for that but for occasional or ‘in between use,’ it’s ok. It does of course smell nice – a bit like sweets and that’s never a bad thing!
It’s also been a while since I’ve bought a new nail varnish so these two new additions by way of the Sensationail Nailtural Colour Polishes * in Peaceful Peony & Optimistic Orchid were warmly welcomed. Peaceful Peony is that lovely manicure pink -neither too candy nor too pale. Optimistic Orchid on the other hand is a timeless berry that instantly adds that bit of interest to my hands.
The Embyrolisse, the Lait Creme Concentrate * is one of those French Pharmacy faves that never fails. This is an old-favourite of mine that I’ve been turning to lately. It especially works well over those extra dry patches on my forehead and has this automatic smoothing and plumping effect. I like to give it a good few moments to sink in and works its magic before applying my makeup. Of course it’s a great one for night time too but I do prefer my oils and something that bit more richer for the evenings. Oh and let’s just take a moment to appreciate the super cute packaging on this limited edition version.
New to me though is the Embryolisse Creme Hydratante a l’Orange * this, as its name suggests, is a moisturiser which has a healthy dose of Vitamin C. Refreshing and cooling this works as a great primer before makeup; it leaves the skin with a matte finish but by no means dull as it also revitalises the skin. I personally prefer to still wear a separate primer before foundation but when I’m having one of those dull-skin days, this is a great one to turn to as it’s an instant pick me up and I love the subtle zingy smell too.
Lastly, and something I’m still trialling, are these Hairburst Chewable Hair Vitamins *. I love the idea of chewable vitamins, especially when they taste like wine gums and are heart-shaped. These chewable vitamins not only promote faster hair growth, but nourish your hair from within. I’m always a bit skeptical of such claims but I’m in dire need of upping my Vitamin intake and since these contain Biotin, Selenium, Zinc, B5, B6 & B12, I can’t really go wrong…I think. Time will tell I guess.
So have you tried any of these products before and what do you think? x
