A Natural Skincare Range from a family-feel brand
I‘m all for trying out new skincare, especially the 100% natural variety. As you get older that need for simplicity is all the more important and I love supporting the smaller, “family-feel” brands. There’s almost a sense of trust and authenticity that they bring that makes them appealing.
Today’s post is all about two skincare products from Lyonsleaf which I’ve had the pleasure of trying out recently. Lyonsleaf is a husband and wife team based in the Mendip Hills in Somerset that produces their own range of skincare products using home-grown products from their farm. If an ingredient doesn’t directly benefit the skin, it’s not included.
Aside from being 100% natural, their products are also 100% water-free. This eliminates the need for any synthetic ingredients, so there’s no artificial preservatives, colours or fragrances in any of their products but rather 100% active ingredients, all of which will help maximise the benefits for the skin. As a massive fan of oils, I was given the Beauty Balm * and the Scented Marshmallow Soften & Rejuvenate Facial Oil * to try and you can read on below to find out my thoughts.
The Beauty Balm
You’ll know from my Skincare post that I do love a good oil-based cleanser for removing that dirt and grime. Nothing does it better and I find my skin doesn’t feel tight and dry afterwards either. The Beauty Balm is thick in consistency but very effective at removing makeup at the end of a long day. Like most balms, you apply it to dry skin and then remove with a hot flannel, the flannel acting like a good exfoliator for the face too. The result? Clean, soft and supple skin.
Ideal for those with sensitive skin, you can also use this balm on dry skin patches like the elbows or knees and at just £12.95 for 60ml this is really good value for money. I personally love how effective it is at removing makeup and it’s a welcome addition to my skincare routine. You can see below for the full list of ingredients.

The Scented Marshmallow Soften & Rejuvenate Facial Oil
Another welcome addition to my skincare routine is the Scented Marshmallow Soften & Rejuvenate Facial Oil. This 100% natural face oil consists of a blend of essential oils including Avocado, Calendula, Vitamin E and Rosehip Oil but the star and somewhat unusual ingredient is marshmallow extract. Marshmallow is actually great for problem skin and softens and restores tired and damaged skin.
Very rich in texture, I’d say one pump is more than enough to cover the entire face. That said, I can see this becoming more of a staple as the weather turns colder as I think the super rich formula will work wonders for my extra dry skin during the colder months.
